To recycle an item, users scan it using the app. If the item is unrecognized, users can manually identify it or add it to the database. Items are then stored in the Virtual Recycling Center (VRC), equipped with a Virtual Battery that powers the recycling process. Users can charge the battery within their account settings.

Recycling commences with a tap on the "Recycle" button and halts under various conditions, adding up to $0.05 USD to the account balance per recycled item. recyPay complements earnings based on real-world bottle bills by adding $0.01 for each $0.05 received from physical recycling centers.

The RecyMarathon feature rewards the top daily recycler with a random bonus added to their balance. Payments are made via eGift cards from companies like Apple, Amazon, Target, and Walmart. Users can expect email delivery of chosen gift cards after fulfilling VRC rent requirements and any outstanding dues.

For alternative payment methods, users may select the "Other Gift" option and follow the defined procedures within the app. Despite potential delays in scanning processes, recyPay's objective remains centered around encouraging real-world recycling practices through its virtual counterpart.
